"Women are the future of cinema" said Nathalie Masduraud and Valérie Urrea, the two presidents of the 2022 edition of our Women's Words Competition, with great accuracy. Here, at the Très Court, for more than ten years now, we have been honoring, through this competition, the portraits, testimonies, life stories, struggles, as well as the small or big victories of "the other half of humanity".
Always in less than four minutes, far from clichés, commonplaces, these are original and surprising women who reveal themselves in this selection. Regardless of age, culture or nationality, they speak with humor or seriousness and show a diversity of feminine universes testifying to the reality of the world.
In our own way, we are thus laying small stones towards equality between women and men. For several years now, we have been making sure that films are fairly represented in all our selections. This attention has allowed the statistics to evolve. Indeed, in 2019, the number of films directed by women and selected to participate in the festival represented 25%. This figure rises to 42% in 2022, before finally reaching the 50% target in 2023!
The Competition is endowed with the Women's Rights Prize awarded by a specific Jury of personalities committed to these essential issues, in partnership with the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men. This Prize is endowed with 1,000 euros.
