CUT! - United Cinema for Transition

Platform for the engagement of actresses, actors and agents on the ecological transition of the cinema sector.

La Très Courte bio"I like to push the doors of destiny, follow my instinct and coincidences to awaken encounters and exchanges. I like to dream that anything is possible when we go with the momentum of the heart, that we can change things by coming together and uniting." With these words, Jérémie Renier begins a letter written in December 2022 to six carefully identified recipients. He proposes to them to discuss the ecological transition of the cinema sector. Act, gather, support, progress, share... Urgently, necessarily, actively.

Aware and committed to environmental issues, Hiam Abbas, Julie Amalric, Swann Arlaud, Cyril Dion, Carole Scotta, and Flore Vasseur immediately respond positively. With the help of the CNC, already the bearer of a vast transition project in the industry called Action!, they form a think tank with the support of Juliette Vigoureux. In January 2023, the collective composed of these 8 professionals is created. They begin a series of regular meetings with the idea of being able to share the fruit of these exchanges at the next Cannes Film Festival.

Their goal is to reflect on the possible and necessary transformations of the cinema world towards a more sustainable model. After passionate and sincere discussions and thanks to the diversity of their profiles, CUT! Cinéma Uni pour la Transition is born. They have resulted in the drafting of a manifesto now published and the creation of two initial tools: a platform and a charter of commitment for actresses, actors, and agents. This year, 3 members of the CUT! collective will preside over our 48h Environment Challenge!
